Expertise for Social Good
I’ve had a diverse career spanning the startup, corporate, nonprofit, and academic sectors, working with and for organizations of all sizes. Originally from the US, I have spent the last seven years on the African continent developing an expertise on the landscape of social enterprise startups and incubation programs. After obtaining my doctorate in entrepreneurial learning, I co-founded a space startup. I closed a multimillion-dollar seed round, developed an award-winning pitch, and formulated the strategies that commercialized a novel technology. My passions include social change, entrepreneurial development, technology innovation, and data storytelling.
My PhD research through the University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business Science focused on the ways social entrepreneurs learn while part of an incubation program in South Africa. My results uncovered 8 conceptions of social entrepreneurs’ learning during incubation programs with further analysis showing varying ways of experiencing these conceptions through 5 learning archetypes. I also hold an MBA from Villanova University and a BS in Business from Nazareth. Additionally, I received a graduate certificate in International Development and Social Change through a program based in Rwanda by the Middlebury Institute of International Studies.
